Current Information:Born-Hackney Divisional Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium
On 25th April, 1915, the 1st Cornwall Light Infantry battalion of 14th Brigade, 5th Division moved into the front line near Vierstraat in the Ypres salient where they remained for the rest of the month and through into May with the companies rotating between the forward trenches and reserve positions. The trenches held by the battalion here were heavily shelled on most days, parapets were knocked down and there was a steady stream of casualties including George Parker who died from woundson 2nd May. |
